I think you're half-right on the question of labeling. Both of these guys are rock guitarists in a blues-rock setting. They're both GREAT players, but both these guys are closer to John Mayer, Jeff Beck, and Gary Moore than they are to Skip James, Robert Johnson, or B.B. King.

I too like my partner in crime also think that there is something special about watching an artist mature. I think that even though KWS has matured a lot, I think he is just now beginning to hit his stride. I think there is an awful lot to come from him yet.

KWS seems to surround himself with nothing but the best in the business. Even when I saw him in the nineties, he had mind blowing musicians surrounding him. (I still think that one of his first drummers was the best I have ever seen) he continues today with the likes of Chris Layton as his touring drummer.

Naturally, along with great talent comes great sound. Sure, you can sound tight and just smoke the joint, but without the people behind the scenes, the audience just isn’t listening.

This show was just over all a well balanced mix at the board and a lot of cool memories for
me.

By far, the venue was the most intimate you could ask for besides a blues bar on the side of a remote Louisiana highway. The acoustics must be superior (Although I can’t say for certain, most of the show I had a woman screaming right in my ear behind me) and you just can’t beat the feeling of the bottom end kicking you in the gut, along with a smoking hot guitar lead over the top.

I will end with: I will relish a lot of good memories from this show. Did you?

I think the moron that commented in December is just that. The battle is not about bands, but guitarists. Hence the name of the website! I feel McCready certainly puts a more soulful fell into anything he plaus. i have seen Peal Jam twice with a long stretch in between and he really can do a number on a fretboard. I have never personally seen Kim Thayil or Soungarden, but the band has a signature sound that certainly screams Seattle. I will certainly have to look into some more of Kim's/Soungardens stuff.
